Hey, I’m Matt.

I’m the founder of Midwest Muscle and a dad of soon to be 4 kids (5 years old and under)

+ I’m a personal kettlebell and intermittent fasting coach.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been interested in fitness. In junior high and high school I was heavily into calisthenics.  I spent thousands of hours doing pushups, pullups, and bodyweight squats. In college, I really fell in love with the barbell. Admittedly, my reasons then were less than chivalrous. But, I learned countless lessons about barbell lifting, cardiovascular health, and the importance of good nutrition.

However, when “real life” happened, I very quickly realized that I could no longer spend hours in the weight room and fuel up on an unlimited food plan. With a growing family, a full time job, and a long Chicagoland commute, I needed to find a way to train in a way that optimized my time, energy and resources in the best way possible.
A friend of mine (an old college roommate, to be precise) suggested the kettlebell, and my life was forever changed.

A combination of kettlebells, intermittent fasting, and daily commitment to consistency has allowed me to be in the best shape of my life, in a season that has kept me busier than I have ever been before.

I learned such a crucial lesson during all this and I want the share it because it’s so ridiculously simple in nature.

I’ve cracked the code on being able to pursue prime physical health and fitness while maintaining balance with professional commitments and most importantly, family time.

The years of parenting small kids are exhausting (to say the very least), but this doesn’t need to be the reason you put your goals and health aside.

You don’t need to wait until your kids are in school, or out of the house, to find the time necessary for making this work. You don’t need a gym, you don’t need expensive supplements, you don’t need a meal delivery service or hours of spare time during the week.

Here’s the secret: Deprivation increases capacity.
With just a single, ugly piece of iron with a handle and 15-30 minutes a day, you can achieve strength training, hypertrophy training, metabolic training, endurance training, flexibility training, mobility training…You just need to be intelligent in planning kettlebell complexes, combos, circuits, and chains.
That’s where I come in.

My programs and coaching are designed to help real people achieve REAL results…in their REAL LIVES. Clingy toddlers, busy sports schedules, interrupted sleep from waking babies, and long work hours are not going to keep you from becoming the best version of yourself anymore.

At Midwest Muscle, my commitment is to help you pursue and achieve growth and the education necessary to find success on your terms. By combining accessible weight training based on natural, functional movement, I provide you with the tools and resources you need to make massive strides right from home in as little as 15-30 minutes a day from your garage, yard, or living room.
